I started The Urban Kitten as a place to explore simple creative hobbies later in life. I’m not a lifelong expert at every craft here, and that’s exactly the point. I’m learning as I go, getting back into hand sewing, simple embroidery, and creative baking and then sharing what I learned in plain English.
If you’ve ever looked at a needle and thread and thought, “I should probably know how to do this by now,” you’re in the right place. Around here, we start small, make mistakes, fix what we can, and enjoy the process.
Right now you’ll mostly find me experimenting with hand-sewing basics and fun kitchen makes, mostly desserts, because trial and error tastes better when there’s frosting involved.
Check out my resource guide for the stores I personally shop and love!
I hope you enjoy your time on the blog and make sure to check out how to put together a hand sewing kit and also buying vintage craft patterns, then take a little stroll down memory lane with push-pin ornaments while you nibble on my favorite coffee cake recipe!
So now, I bet your are curious about how I named the blog “The Urban Kitten” well let me tell you a little story. The blog is named after one of two kittens we found under our porch one winter evening. Throughout the blog you’ll see an illustrated cat face with red glasses, the cat is Audrey and the glasses are mine, kind of a amalgam of the two of us.
