I own and have read each of these books. I'm one of those people that the likes the feel of a book in hand, however, I also own my absolute favorites in kindle editions so I can have discretely read on a plane, or during my lunch break.

The first two books are by Ernie J. Zelinski and I actually bought both these books over 10 years ago and still enjoy reading these for motivation. Yes, I've been thinking about retiring for a very long time. 🙂

My Picks for best frugal finance books

I only recommend books I own and have read and enjoyed.

The Joy of Not Working by Ernie Zelinski

Each of the books listed is available on Amazon and have a free preview. If you use my link to make a purchase this helps me feed the kitty, using these links will not increase your price.

How to Retire, Happy, Wild, and Free by Ernie Zelinski

Your Money or Your Life by Vicki Robin

Your Money or Your Life is a pure classic and a must-read for any age. The original book was written in 1993 and revised in 2018.

Your Playbook for Tough Times by Donna Freedman

If you are looking for advice on frugal living and money-saving tips from someone who has been there and done that then you absolutely need to check out both volumes of "Your Playbook for Tough Times "by Donna Freedman.

The advice here will give you practical and action able advice.

Your Playbook for Tough Times, Vol.2 by Donna Freedman

The problem with most finance books is the assumption that you actually have money to manage. Not everyone has a nest egg to supplement their retirement income.

How to Manage Your Money When You Don;t Have Any by Erik Wecks

The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio by Terry Ryan

This next book isn't really a finance book, per se, but it's a great story of getting through tough times and a very quick read, I couldn't put it down and read it in one afternoon. I must warn you you may have a strong desire to start entering contests!

Get What's Yours by Laurence J. Kotlikoff, Phillip Moeller, and Paul Solman

As I get older I start researching ways to make sure I make the right decisions before apply for social security. It truly is amaze of rules and regulations and so easy to miss an opportunity to get everything you are entitled to.
